Hachikō, the Akita

Many years ago, I was listening to the radio, I heard the DJ sharing the story of the great Hachiko in Japan which waited for his long passed away master to return home in a railway station for 9 years. Ever since, the story remain in my mind as I am so touch and overwhelm by it’s uncondition love and loyalty.

Today, my admiration towards Hachiko arise again after I watched the movie ”Hachiko: A Dog’s Story” starring Richard Gere.

This is a remake of the 1987 Japanese film Hachikō Monogatari which is based on Hachiko’s true story. The story begins with Professor Parker Wilson found a lost Akita dog at the train station and keep it as nobody claims it. Later he named it “Hachiko” as translates the symbol on the pup’s collar. Everyday Hachi  accompanied his master to the train station and return each evening to greet him after work. One day, sadly his master departs, passes away and never returns to the station. Hachiko faithfully returns to the same spot at the station the very next day, and every day for the next nine years to wait for his beloved master.

This film is about loyalty and the strong bond between the Proffessor and Hachiko. This faithfulness friendship is the quality we should learn.

I highly recommend everyone to watch this movie and remember to prepare some tissues because you will cry especially during the last part of the movie!!

A photo of the the actual Hachikō and a bronze statue in his likeness was erected at Shibuya Station.

Hachiko’s legendary faithfulness became a symbol of loyalty. His story teaches us the qualities of unconditional love, gratitude, integrity and loyalty.

Lassie, the Collie

This is 11th movie about Lassie. It is a remake of the 1943 film, Lassie Come Home.

Rough Collie  breed, Lassie‘s classic character first appeared in “Lassie Come Home” novel,  a character created by Eric Knight in 1940. The novel proved so popular that a filmversion was made in 1943, in which the male dog Pal played the female Lassie—a gender-bending role that he would continues in six more films and two television series.

This story is about an intelligent, heroic collie and his young owner going through life’s obstacles, experiences and adventures. It also delivered about loyalty, honesty, perseverance, poverty, and loving or respecting animals. This is the best movie that parents can use to teach their children about loving kindness, appreciation and gratitude.

When I was small in early 1990-s, the TV was showing the series Lassie once a week during the night time. Every week, I was so thrill when it’s time for the show and I cried if I missed any of the episodes.

Lassie had bring me so much joys, excitements and passion towards dogs during my childhood. This passion continues and leading me to become a pet groomer nowaday.
